A little bit of color

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street... fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." Coco Chanel
If we see opportunities daily instead of problems, now that Odile had passed, we are able to rehabilitate many areas that were affected by the Hurricane and we can design them better than ever. Any space is the perfect place to remember how we rebuilt this beautiful region with the support of friends and strangers and give our lives a personal touch full of life and cosmopolitan tendencies. What remains now is to decide, classic blue or radiant orchid?

24 months before starting any season and any product goes on sale, the International Color Authority through its group of specialists, has the task of determining the color palette to be used in every design. No matter if you think of a dress, trousers or a car: all products we consume every day, even without realizing it, has a color that has been chosen long before it have reached to us.

Radiant Orchid
For the spring of 2015, Pantone, the global institute in charge of regulating the color palette and assigning to each a name and its values, had published 9 color palettes that will set the trend soon in the most exclusive interiors stores. Style-Settings, Abstractions, Botanicum, Zensations, Urban joungle, Tinted Medley, Past Traces, Serepindity and Spontaneity are the names by which they have assigned the trends, giving us an unimaginable variety of results that depend not only on the combination we choose but in the particular style we want to give our spaces according to our tastes and personality.

Many experts concluded that Radiant Orchid was the color that represented 2014, a tone between fuchsia and lavender that energized not only on the runways but in the real world in contrast to the monotony and simplicity of the designs of previous years. For next year, the Style-Settings palette retains this color once more but experts predict fashion color of the year 2015 will be the Classic Blue as we've seen on runways, fashion houses and design objects such as Samsung Galaxy S5. In a year that seems anything can happen, the color blue represents the tranquility and peace that humanity needs to successfully overcome the future challenges, keeping the mood with a strong, intelligent and highly combinable color.

Classic Blue
If you are motivated by either of these two colors, it is important to consider some basic rules in interior design to achieve the perfect result. First, before making any drastic change in your space, choose the objects you want to keep and list all the new items you would like to incorporate; you have to recall that even if you keep everything you have now in your space, changing the color and redistributing your furniture in a different way, you can achieve even better results than starting from scratch. After you have defined the elements that you will work with and have chosen the color you like most, think that the way to achieve contrasts and harmonies is combining it with organic materials such as wood and vegetation and try to maintain at least a neutral color, such as white or gray, to help you standardize and bring life to the space.

A main color in your decor should not absorb more than 50% of the space available; it is important that you combine it with other shades of the same color and avoid saturation. There is no need to paint all the walls of a room with one color or to get all the objects as well in one tone, that way you'll saturate the space and get tired very quickly of the choice you've made.  Before making a change too drastic as changing all your furniture, you can try inserting color gradually and observing the results. Possibly if you add some cushions and little details, is all that you require to change your space ... the choice is in your hands.
